Why Buy Purebred?

There are many reasons why buying a purebred pup is the ONLY way to go, some of which being:

  1. Ethical breeders who are registered with their State's governing body (we are registered with Dogs NSW, formerly known as the Canine Council) breed only to IMPROVE THE BREED.  This means carefully planned matings, removing the risk of breeding faults and diseases as far as is practicable.
  2. Ethical breeders health test their breeding stock.  Our dogs and bitches have been health tested as CLEAR for L2-HGA and HC.  The results certificates can be viewed upon request and a copy of the certificates goes home with each new pup.
  3. We do not breed for the sake of it and we ensure the highest safety, love and care of our dogs - after all, they're our pets too!
  4. We do NOT sell to just anyone, especially not to pet shops, exporters and known puppy farmers.  We want our homes, both show and pet homes, to love and care for our puppies as much as we do.
  5. You know that when you go home with one of our pups, that pup has had the BEST START IN LIFE, is health tested, is checked and cleared by a vet, is vaccinated, wormed, microchipped and registered with Dogs NSW.  You will get all papers provided to us pertaining to that puppy.
  6. You know that you can ask us any question and have it answered honestly and that we are here even after you have taken your puppy home.
  7. You know that, by looking at your puppy's pedigree, your puppy is exactly what we say it is:  PUREBRED.  There are no mysterious mixes down the line, no question that you have a pure, unadulterated Staffordshire Bull Terrier of the best quality.  This is not snobbery - this is the ONLY WAY you can be sure of the puppy's ancestry and its genetic make-up, which ultimately decides the predictability of temperament and conformation.

Reasons for buying from a pet shop, puppy farmer or backyard breeder:

  1. There are none.

From buying from the above, you lose the quality of the pup, you lose the health guarantee because they don't test, you lose the certainty of purebred status because more often than not there is a mix of breeds in there, you lose any chance of owning a registered puppy - if the parents are not registered with the governing body, there is no way you can register the litter of pups, you will also probably lose a lot of money, not only through high price of purchase some may charge, but also fixing up any health issues your puppy may have.  Not only this, but puppy farming may be perpetuated in order to supply pet shops with cute puppies.

As you may be able to tell, we are passionate about this issue.  However, the decision of which breed, which breeder and which pup are entirely yours.  If you decide not to look at registered breeders, please do the world a favour and save a dog from the pound instead of lining the pockets of the unscrupulous.

Dangerous Dog or Dog in Danger?

Yet another reason to buy from a registered breeder!!!

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is much maligned in some countries and certainly misrepresented in the media.  We hear quite regularly of dog attacks and the media shouts loud and clear that it was by 'Staffordshire Bull Terriers' only to find out on the quiet that it was in fact a cross-breed, of unknown parentage.  Still, the damage is done and, to look at a Stafford with its big mouth full of gleaming white teeth, one could think there is truth in the story.  Those who know the breed look at the same dog and think that it's smiling (which it is!).  Councils do not require vets to sight registration papers before microchipping, resulting in many cross-breeds being chipped as purebreds, thus grossly distorting statistics.

We are now staring in the face of the Breed Specific Legislation which, quite frankly, will not be addressed here because a bigger website would be required to fully impress upon the reader how worrying this legislation is.  Please research it and make your own mind up.

Buying a purebred is the only way of predicting your dog's temperament.

The Stafford is the only dog to have in it's breed standard (our bible) "... totally reliable, especially with children".  We have no hesitation of recommending a Stafford as a family dog.  However, commonsense must always be used regarding dogs and children, supervision at all times with appropriate training of dog and children!!!
